According to the report by County Executive Craig, $1.2 million could be identified as having been spent on ‘illegals’ in a county budget that exceeds 850 million.  The report itself conceeds that benefits or taxes collected from ‘illegals’ can not be determined.  So, it is conceivable, that ‘illegal’ immigration has been a net gain for Prince William County.  The truth is that we will never know to what extent the County has either benefited or not from the influx of cheap labor.  Personally, it seems logical that this labor force has driven the construction of new homes and contributed to the increase in real estate values.
